The views alone make this house worth it. It was very private and quiet, a great place to relax. The house was spacious and comfortable. The backyard was gorgeous and very well maintained. We enjoyed the AC in 3 of the 4 bedrooms. We really appreciated that it was stocked with things like beach chairs, a beach umbrella, towels, snorkel gear etc. Management was great and made it easy to find the house.

On the downside, the Wi-fi was pretty weak, and we didn't have any cell service, so be prepared to disconnect a bit during your stay. The towels smelled very musty, so we had to re-wash them, which helped a little, but still didn't totally get rid of the smell. One of the railings on the porch was a bit loose, so you needed to be careful not to lean on it.

Otherwise, it was a great stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there!

Hale hamakua was a nice place to stay during the Merrie Monarch week. It's a lengthy drive but worth the drive. Home is clean, maintained and like the solitude away from town. Definitely stay again.

This property is quite out of the way, far from the bustle of Hilo but close enough to make trips into town easy. We found it to be a good home base for seeing all that the Big Island has to offer. The property’s outdoor spaces are absolutely wonderful! We loved watching birds, whales, and chickens while our young boys ran around the back yard. We like to cook and the kitchen had just enough to enable us to make whatever we wanted. Everything was clean and functional, and the supply of beach chairs, snorkels, flippers, boogie board, and cooler were much appreciated for our family trips to the beach. We would stay again for sure.

We enjoyed sunrises off the deck, lush foliage surrounding the property, and a well-appointed facility. Comfortable beds and tons of space. We loved being on the Hamakua Coast, and the location was perfect for exploring the east side of the island. It would take a week to describe the beauty of the house, and all the amenities!

We had a wonderful experience at this property. We were there with our three adult children and their partners for a total of eight adults. The kitchen was well equipped, there was an extra table so that the eight of us could all sit down to dinner together. The property was beautiful and well maintained, the house was clean and nicely decorated. The lanai was amazing and the sunrise was worth getting up early!
The only complaint was that the 4th bedroom was only a single room and no air conditioning and no screen, so one of the couples had to sleep on the pull out in the tv room. Not a big inconvenience as the pull out was comfortable but it’s important to know that the fourth bedroom is not set up for a couple.
Overall, an excellent experience that we would highly recommend!

Home is beautiful. The views are worth a million dollars. Nice quite area. The only thing we would recommend is air conditioning. There were three rooms with window air conditioners but living room an kitchen and 2 living room were very hot during daytime. Home is furnished with everything you need to make the stay more enjoyable. We will recommend this home to others. We gave 4 stars only because of no central air in the home.

Difficult to find the road to the house, not well marked. Extremely difficult to identify the turn to the home at night or in inclement weather.Upon entering there was a musty smell. Turned on the ceiling fans to circulate the air. Only 2 were capable of multiple speeds the rest were stuck on low speed. Opened the first patio door and the screen door fell out. This happened with each patio door. Not all of the windows had screens and some were not able to open due to needed repairs orr replacement. Found excremental on the floors from geckos presumably. Found hair on all of the dish towels in the kitchen. Also found hairr on bath towels. When reaching into the closet to grab a towel in the master bath. My hand hit something. It was an outlet just hanging out. The master bath shower leaked water all over the floor, almost fell when getting out. The internet coverage cannot handle streaming and cell phone coverage is poor at best. While everything in the house worked. The house overall in my opinion needed lots of TLC. I would not recommend this location to anyone who enjoys their technology or for a family. It is better suited for adults who wish to unplug. Be aware you may have to haul away your own rubbish at the end of your stay. Also keep in mind this house is 20 miles from Hilo and about 26 miles from the Hilo Airport.

We stayed long enough to locate another place to stay because the wall units were 10+ years old and it was 86 degrees. The house was HOT. We left, I was charged for 1 night and stayed 30 mins.

Wow!! This home was beautiful!!It was stocked with everything needed. The location was very private. The views were stunning. The property manager was very nice and very helpful. If we get to Hawaii again we would definitely stay here.

Only 2 of the 4 bedrooms had functional window A/C units (one didn't have A/C at all, the other had a window unit that wasn't putting out cold air) and got quite warm in the rest of the house. The "family room" is a converted garage that looks fine, but only minimal seating and very warm. This on days that never got above 82. Would we go again? Absolutely. It was amazing for the 2 of us. But if you have need for more than 2 bedrooms, it might be a bit too warm.
