Very nice rental!
Reviewed on 2025-01-18 by Roger S. , Lascassas, TN USWe spent almost 3 weeks in this very nice property! The house is adorable with a mid century modern decor. On arrival we did notice that the gutters around the house had not been cleaned recently. However the home is on a large lot with heavy vegetation and they receive a lot of rain. The house was painted a pretty blue and I saw no evidence of any leaks or damage. The stairs and deck were well maintained. Inside there’s nice flooring (with a few areas left incomplete). The rooms are large and comfortable. The kitchen was clean and contained dishes, pots and pans for cooking, all the tableware and dishes needed. There were clean kitchen appliances and towels. The water DOES have a full treatment system which makes it drinkable which is a huge plus! The bathroom was clean and stocked with plenty of linens. The beds were all comfortable with clean sheets. There was a bit of a mismatch in the color of the linens but we have found that typical of Hawaii in general. They were clean and comfortable. The house is not fully air conditioned which is also typical as electricity is very expensive. We didn’t need air conditioning as it was a little warm during the day but the evenings were cool with a little rain. The furniture in the living room was adequate although it could stand to be cleaned. The curtains in the living room were cute but a little droopy. Our only major complaint was that all light bulbs in the lamps were extremely dim! I like to sit and read before bed but it was really difficult to read! Overall we visited family in HPP and we had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s! Thanks for a great time!
Dark, Desolate & Depressing
Reviewed on 2022-01-17 by , ORO VALLEY, AZ United StatesCons: Very dark (we had to go buy brighter lightbulbs and move bedroom lamps to the living room). The foliage is very close to the house so you seen nothing and it feels desolate. Not close to Hilo or restaurants or anything. Can’t sit outside due to MOSQUITOS.
Major Bad: COCKROACHES IN THE KITCHEN CUPBOARDS. We couldn’t leave soon enough.
Pros: Covered parking, Washer & Dryer.
Cons: Very dark (we had to go buy brighter lightbulbs and move bedroom lamps to the living room). We had a wonderful stay! The property is very spacious and nicely decorated. Gina, the property manager was very prompt and went above and beyond to assist us with any questions or requests. She was very friendly and we couldn’t have asked for a better property manager! We loved Uncle Roberts every Wednesday night and the Volcano National park is only 30 minutes away. The property had everything we needed for our month long stay. We would definitely stay at this property again. Thank you for a wonderful, peaceful time.

Trudi and Adam

Reviewed on 2018-05-01 by Michael M. , Winnetka, CA United StatesThis property was really nice. The location was perfect for getting around Hilo and Puna. Nice and quiet except for the coqui frogs. The place was super clean! Three geckos were my roommates. Super lucky and zero bugs! Air conditioning in the one room worked awesome considering it was super hot while I was staying there. Don't pass this place up!
