Amazing Paradise
Reviewed on 2024-07-09 by , AUSTIN, TX United StatesOur group of 4 had a wonderful time at this home and could have easily fit more people. The location felt secluded but still close to nearby grocery stores and restaurants. The property is GORGEOUS and the views from the public spaces and outdoor kitchen/gazebo are stunning. We had trouble with the water heater working on one side of the house, but the maintenance crew went above and beyond to fix it. The beach access is more difficult than described, but it was worth the trek for these 4 adults (I wouldn't call it kid-friendly). Overall had a fantastic time and would definitely rent again.

Reviewed on 2021-12-31 by Marlyn C. , Willamina, OR USThe pictures don’t do the property justice. The grass around the main house was golfing quality. Walking around barefoot was pleasing to the feet. The house inside and out was outstanding. The views was amazing. We left the property everyday to go on adventures. The island is beautiful and if you want to stay in a beautiful place while your there, I would recommend this place.

Midway Holiday in Hawaii
Reviewed on 2020-02-13 by , Reid, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory AustraliaWe would stay here again.
A few items which would improve a future visit are: Outdoor drying line for beach towels, a laundry tub, blinds or curtains to reduce early morning sun and glare in the dining area and bedside reading lights in the Pavilion.
Great east-facing modern house in wonderful clifftop location overlooking Pilaa beach (not a swimming beach). Excellent outlook for whale and bird watching. Very private large garden property well maintained. Good child-friendly beaches near, by car. House well equipped and spacious with the two bedroom suites privately located at either end of the living areas. Outdoor decks and a hot tub have garden and ocean views. Separate Pavilion well away from the main house provides extra sleeping accommodation and table tennis. It also has a wonderful outdoor shower. A gazebo located down from the house towards the ocean offers extensive garden and sea views, an indoor barbecue and a large circular dining table seating eight. Good shops for general supplies are located relatively nearby in Princeville. A surprise and pleasant aspect of our stay was a roadside stall, on the approach to the house, where local produce such as papaya and coconuts could be bought and paid for in an “honesty box”. Wonderful!<br/><br/>We would stay here again.<br/>A few items which would improve a future visit are: Outdoor drying line for beach towels, a laundry tub, blinds or curtains to reduce early morning sun and glare in the dining area and bedside reading lights in the Pavilion.<br/><br/><br/>

Beautiful property but with some glitches
Reviewed on 2018-06-01 by , Santa Barbara, CA United StatesThere were features in the house that did not function well or at all, and are not worthy of such an exceptional residence or the price that was charged. For example, the music system in the house does not function at all. We were told to use a cheesy boombox instead. Very disappointing! The grill in the gazebo needs some maintenance as the burners did not work properly. Some of the lighting does not work properly. Overall, the home needs an update as it has a major 90s feel to it.
Also, when we arrived, the property was not exactly spotless. We had to call the management company to provide extra cleaning, which was provided.
The property management representative seemed marginally useful and marginally professional. When he answered the call with our initial concerns, I could hear a television set running in the background, and he seemed indifferent to the concerns. The concierge service representative on the other hand was very responsive, professional, and pleasant, and helped one member of our party out greatly in arranging a massage and giving tips on some local dining spots.
The property is truly phenomenal. Gorgeous landscaping, access to a private beach. The home layout on the website is very misleading, and negatively affected our visit. There are in fact not 3 separate masters. There is one primary master, that has an attached room with a queen size bed. This master is worthy of their description. There is a second master on the other end of the main house that is also very nicely appointed. The other bedroom is essentially a maid quarters attached to the garage. <br/><br/>There were features in the house that did not function well or at all, and are not worthy of such an exceptional residence or the price that was charged. Paradise on Kauai
Reviewed on 2016-01-21 by Pan H. , Savoy, Illinois United StatesThe house was wonderful! Perfect location, can wake up every morning and watch the ocean directly from your bed. Also the house is huge! Too big for four of us. Even have a room in the parking garage. The point I like most about the house is the big windows and interesting structure, you will never see at somewhere else. And when I checked the photos, I thought the other photos are showing some sharing public areas with the huge field, turned out that everything belonged us! Moreover, the owner had so many stuffs at home and nicely shared with us, we didn't need to buy anything or ask for helping. And Eric, our agent, wrote me a welcoming letter, it was short but cute.
Don't hesitate! This house definitely worths more than the price. My boyfriend's parents were even thinking about buying the house for our next vacation, but unfortunately it's only for rental. Anyways, perfect staying, didn't want to leave at all. I probably didn't write many things important, but no need to say, the house had no weakness. Thanks for the owner to share this house with us.
We stayed in this beautiful house on Kauai for 3 nights, still regreted not to extend for more nights:( Me and my boyfriend had a family trip with his parents during this winter vacation, we spent some nights on other two islands and the last 3 nights here. When I first planned to book the whole trip, I picked Oahu, Big Island and Maui as most of other tourists would do. However, while I was browsing online and trying to find some good places to stay, I first found this house on airbnb (it was a lot more expensive there, at least 350 dollars more per night, and luckyly I found hawaii life later) The photos of the house took my heart at first sight and I threw away the original plan and changed it to Kauai instead of Maui. It proved that we definitely made the right choice. <br/>The house was wonderful! Perfect location, can wake up every morning and watch the ocean directly from your bed. Also the house is huge! The only complaint we all had was the design of the beautiful looking house was just weird in terms of air flow. Stagnant would be an understatement. All those amazing windows just turned the place into a hot house (green house). I've always visited Kauai and Kilauea in winters past and stayed at some of your cottages in Kilauea. The air was of course cooler then and the wind moved things. the smaller dwelling made it easy to get air through. This time and with no real ability to open the windows was almost a downer of the highest degree at first...... we arrived on one of the hottest and rainiest days of the summer apparently. so muggy and hot and, with the price tag, having no AC and no natural air flow was kind of a deal breaker at first. the location won us over after all was said and done and the weather did ease. BUt I would not choose to stay at this property again during the summer-like months most certainly. The place was very clean and the grounds are once again exquisite (to put it mildly). after getting "acclimated" we had a very wonderful experience. The Mosquitos were pretty serious there too this time..... so Definitely, upgrading the house with a good AC unit and more natural air flow would be a wise investment I would think for Kai Halulu. With much gratitiude, Chris

Large Beautiful Home
Reviewed on 2014-06-02 by , Sausalito, CA United StatesWe rented this home for a wedding in Hawaii. The property is lovely and large. The design of the house is very modern and it was clean and well cared for. The layout it a little strange with some connected rooms and bathrooms, but we made it work. The sound system didn't work during our stay which is a bummer.

Amazing
Reviewed on 2014-04-16 by Kyle D. , Calgary, AB CANADA CanadaCould not have been better. When you park at the garage and walk down to the main house we were amazed. The pictures do no justice as the ocean views from the property are awe inspiring. We loved the seperate gazebo and spent many of hours in there enjoying the company and warmth of the room. Home was so clean and has everything you would expect from a luxury rental. We will be back next year

I am terrified of snakes and lizards, home has lizards inside and outside, I was not aware that this is a normal thing.
