Loved Kai Vista
Reviewed on 2025-02-25 by Darby W. , Sacramento, CA USWe loved our stay. The property was perfect for our extended family, providing space for both together and alone time. The rental was clean, well-maintained, and in a convenient location. Our contact, Heidi, made herself available, though we encountered no difficulties. We appreciated that the place was well-stocked with the things we needed for our stay. We definitely would stay again.

This house was perfect for my family. There was plenty of room for one old couple and three young couples. We stayed in Jun '24, and the ACs were strong enough to keep us cool. We made use of the outdoor grille a lot. The host left plenty of towels for bathing and swimming.

The house is one house away from the rocky coastline. Reviewed on 2023-08-15 by Stephanie C. , San Diego , CA United StatesThe 8 of us 2 set of parents, two 20 year olds and a 16 and 17 year old throughly enjoyed our one week stay. It was a great location to explore the Kona Coast, close to grocery stores, 2-steps for snorkeling, Magic Sands Beach and much more. We had breakfast at the house each morning and enjoyed grilling at night. The hammocks were a great addition as well as the geckos that joined us for breakfast. Short walk to view the sunset at the beach nightly.
eclectic home near Kona
Reviewed on 2023-02-01 by , San Mateo, CA USSo, this is a unusual property with essentially two parallel living spaces. There is a main house with two rooms upstairs and downstairs with a sitting area with a tv and a bathroom. a downstairs sitting area, dining area and kitchen. then a nonconnected master bedroom and bathroom next door. then their is a elevated lanai that is connected by a bridge and stair access. Overall the property is quite large and was great for two couples having plenty of private space. The ocean access is limited to the end of the street and is rocky, but there were nice beaches close by. Overall this would be a great place to stay for two couples or a family with kids old enough that they could be on their own. The deck is huge and their is a large area to sit outside to eat and a barbecue and hot tub. Overall service that manages the place was very friendly and very responsive -- a firearm needed a battery, the internet went out for a couple of hours (internet controls access to the TV as well), so the manager had the owner upgraded the internet next day. Overall, for a family or families who like lots of space this would be fantastic aBut, wouldn't choose if you want to easily walk to somewhere to shop/eat, or walk to the beach.

Great family vacation house
Reviewed on 2022-04-21 by Ryan H. , Sammamish, WA USOur vacation rental in Kailua - Kona was amazing. Kai Vista was in a perfect location, not too close to the city, but close enough that if we wanted we could walk down for happy hour. Kai vista easily slept 6 adults, the kitchen was well stocked, and well organized. We cooked almost every evening, and ate outside under the stars. The hot tub was a bonus every evening, and the crows nest was perfect for viewing the amazing sun sets. The property itself was very clean when we arrived and easy for my mom to move around safely. We really never had an issue with Kai Vista. We did call Heidi one day to check on the trash service and she responded immediately. We can hardly wait to return.

Reviewed on 2022-02-19 by Carol H. , Kodiak, AK USGreat home base for our week on Hawaii. The house, yard, and lanai are wonderful. We watched the sunset from the Crow's Nest every evening, and I loved reading in the hammocks. The neighborhood is close enough to town to be convenient and just far enough out to feel "away." Since it was just two of us, we had LOTS of room. We'll have to come back with more family!

The perfect getaway
Reviewed on 2021-08-12 by Ryan T. , Castle rock, CO USThis home exceeded our expectations from the space to the management/concierge team. We had 2 families staying in this home for the week which included 4 adults and 3 children. There was plenty of space for everyone. We all had very comfortable beds and space and although the management offered extra blow up mattresses they were not needed. I also asked for extra towels ahead of time and they were there when we arrived. The home was extremely clean and welcoming upon arriving. We stayed for the week so there was plenty of space for groceries and all of our bags. We brought our own snorkel gear, and there were plenty of beach towels, umbrella, 2 chairs, and small kids floaties available. The layout of the property was so great for our group because when the kids were tired at the end of the day they could hang in the upstairs room and watch movies while the adults hung out on the lookout tower playing cards and chatting. (This was our favorite spot in the morning for coffee, and at the end of the day to relax.) Kids also loved running around the space catching geckos, and collecting flowers. The spa was a nice touch but was pretty hot to stay in too long. The management team was so responsive the whole time we were on the island. Huge shout out to Heidi who really treated us like family and kept checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We had an issue with the air conditioning the first day and after I reached out to her she had it taken care of right away. The concierge was also very helpful. We really wanted to do the manta night snorkel and everywhere was booked. I reached out the concierge team and they found us something right away and it was booked. We were also very happy about the location of the home. We could walk right out the front and the kids loved running around on the lava rock looking for treasures. We were so close to some really great beaches for the kids, and shopping/restaurants. Love Kai Vista!

Beautiful Kona "Tree" House. Location is everything!
Reviewed on 2019-06-22 by Richard E. , LAND O LAKES, FL United StatesTV's in the Master bedroom and Living Room. Good WiFi inside.
A/C - The A/C units in each room worked well once we got them started.
Kitchen - The kitchen was nice. Well equipped. Fridge provided Ice, no water.
Puzzles & board games available.
Third bedroom upstairs has a "short wall" which connects to the living room.
Beds were comfortable. Master had a Cali-King Bed. Other rooms had Queens, sofa mattress downstairs.
2.5 Bathrooms. Beach towels available for use.
Extras - There was an umbrella, beach chairs, kids beach toys, and some snorkel gear to borrow.
Located near downtown Kona!
Checkout - Checkout was easy. Make sure you pay attention to the departure instructions in the book.
2 spaces available for parking.
We recommend adding an electronic keypad for the door in lieu of physical Keys. This makes it more accessible for the 7 people we had in our party.
The master bedroom was dark. The windows and doors were made with screens and shutters. No glass windows, which made the room dark when the A/C was on. It would be better with glass windows with blinds or shutters. The one shutter on the door was broken, and kept falling off/letting air/light in. Overall an excellent place to stay, we loved it!

Great living room and eating area for a medium sized family, though we spent a good deal of our time in the tower overlooking the water. The construction site in photos does not have any activity. It appears that it was an intention not followed up on. There is some kid noise from across the street, but golly, it IS a neighborhood. It didnt bother us at all. Decent parking for two cars. Three Generations of Texans in Paradise!
Reviewed on 2016-02-02 by Samuel K. , Houston, TX United StatesThe house is located an easy ~20 minute drive from Kona International Airport. It is a few miles from "downtown"...close enough for convenience and far enough to get away from it all. The home is located on a private drive just off of one of the main roads, which adds to the feeling of "secluded convenience"
Upon arrival, we had a small problem with a missing house key, but Heidi and the caretaker quickly helped us resolve the problem. They were courteous, professional, and very quick. The property itself was immaculately clean and extremely well-stocked with towels, kitchen basics, and nicely appointed furnishings.
We had some trepidation about the lack of central air. Not only were we comfortable at night, we actually got cold from the trade winds as I listened to the waves crash on the nearby beach and let the surf lull me back to sleep. We were all as comfortable as if we had been home.
We spent generous time on the tower, watching canoe races, paragliders, and we saw dolphins and some whale spray. The tower has a gentle breeze and a table and chairs.
We also used the whirlpool, which was super comfortable, and we grilled Cheeseburgers in Paradise! The kitchen was a hit with the cooks, with everything we needed to prepare several meals in a convenient way. We were grateful for the thoughtful way that the kitchen was put together.
For my parents' 60th birthdays, I set up a trip to Hawaii for them, myself, and my grandmother (87). I found Kai Vista on VRBO and fell in love with the view, the semi-seclusion, and the offering of individual bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone.

The house is located an easy ~20 minute drive from Kona International Airport. The kids called the upper deck the "tree house." The place was great - well stocked, clean, well-maintained. We can't wait to come back.

A beautiful home away from home
Reviewed on 2015-02-03 by Austin B. , Southeastern Alberta (Drumheller, AB CanadaThank you for sharing your beautiful property! The house was perfect-enough room for our family-which include 2 active boys. We watched the Dolphins and whales from the lanai. The boys loved chasing the gecko's and having room to play in the yard. The hot tub was wonderful to unwind in. The location of the property was great- A quiet street -only sound was listening to the ocean crashing against the rocks. Thank you again.

This exquisitely appointed, almost beachfront home is perfectly maintained with cozy comfort in every room. Spectacular ocean views from the home and the special vista viewing tower makes this 3BD/3BA + Den the perfect Hawaiian getaway.
The 1/4 acre lot is completely fenced in for privacy and relaxation from the outside world. The main house has 2 upstairs bedrooms, one queen and one double. The den (which is ground level) can be used as an additional sleeping space and even has sliding doors to close it off for privacy. The largest bedroom and bath has its own entry and is private from the main living area with a 50" plasma TV including cable. All bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning units. All mattresses are Temperpedic. The fully equipped kitchen has marble counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The dining area has a large rectangular table that has two benches and two chairs, easily accommodating at least 6 people. Both the upstairs and the downstairs have comfortable sitting areas, the upstairs boasting an ocean view plus a 50' plasma TV with cable. There are ceiling fans in all the bedrooms and living areas. There is a full indoor laundry room separate from the house.
Indoor features:
*Queen bedroom and double bedroom upstairs, both with AC
*Den downstairs with queen sofa sleeper
*Separate en suite king bedroom outside main house with AC
Outside you will discover a large deck perfect for cooking a meal or relaxing in the hot tub. There is a Weber Genesis propane grill and an outdoor dining area for 6. There are two additional chairs, an umbrella for the table, and seat cushions as well if needed. The hot tub is covered under the deck so that you can enjoy its splendor rain or shine. The two chaise lounges on the lawn are perfect for reading a book while catching some rays. The house provides 2 boogie boards and snorkel gear to help enhance your ocean adventures. ***NOTE: the hot tub service and landscaping occur every Tuesday on a mandatory schedule.
The property features a special viewing tower that is accessible from both the upstairs living room and the downstairs deck. The observation tower has a table and four chairs. Spend the morning up here with a cup of coffee or the evening with a glass of wine, either way, the coastline views and ocean breezes are bound to make you never want to leave.
Due to the home's location on a private road, the area is quiet and peaceful. Perfect for watching sunsets and breaching whales. The excitement does pick up though a few times a year during the world famous Iron Man event. During this time, you have front row private viewing to both the swimming and running events. Just 1.5 miles down the road is the famous Mokuaikaua Church in downtown Kona. Water access is just a few steps from the front gate.
