There were many problems with this property’s current condition. Owner did not return communication request.

1 Problems with both toilets, both need professional service, both broke down during visit.

2 No locks on the sliding doors in the living room and no locks on the doors in the 2nd bedroom.

3 Bathtub drain didn’t work in 2nd bedroom, so we were advised by your plumber who called but couldn’t come to repair, to jam a rag down the drain to use bathtub.


4 Ice maker broken in refrigerator, no ice machine

5 Television in living room stopped working on second day and did not work after.

6 Ceiling fans throughout not working properly. When turned on, most make loud banging sounds indicating something is loose and in need of repair. Others did not turn on at all.

7 Under cabinet lights in the kitchen flicker continuously.

8 Screen doors need to be serviced.

It is unacceptable for paying guests to have to manage contact during a vacation with a plumber, AV guy, or an electrician during a luxury rental of a property for close to 2000 per night. I had communications with at least 2 other repairman in addition to house managers first attempted repair of the toilet in the master bedroom before he had to leave for work.

Bottom line, the property is in a great location but this property was not in appropriate condition to be rented. Owner did not respond to request for compensation or accommodation.

The house has a perfect beachfront access and beautiful views from the front yard and Lanai. Beds are comfy on the Medium Firm side. A/C in both rooms makes it very comfy. There was a lot of spices and oils in the cabinet, check before you shop. Great Check in/Out process and responsive managers! Mahalo!

Nice airy house in perfect location. Lots of good things. Kettle,toaster,Airfryer,oven,cooktop,gas BBQ grill. Main bedroom is lovely. Second bedroom is a big disappointment. We were 2. But if there had been another couple there would be a short straw. Gloomy and Smells musty and is uninviting due to washer being in there. No teaspoons and only 2 decent wine glasses. Also dishwasher out of use.

This is a beautiful home in the pacific beachfront. The home was pristine and well cared for. We spent many hours on the lanai enjoying cool breezes and enjoying the beautiful view. The house is about 20 minutes from the nearest town and tucked away from the main road. It is very easy easy to get to and from shopping and restaurants.

Makana Akua is a quiet, well maintained, comfortable home on the beach within walking distance of Tunnels. The house is exactly as it is represented in the photos. We loved the neighborhood and the overall location. Hawaii Life provided good service, and communication with our island host, Justin was great. We'll be back for longer next time. It would have been nice to have had portable loungers to set up on the lawn in that gorgeous, shady backyard. Thank you!

The kitchen was great for making all our meals "at home". We loved the surrounding location in a quiet neighborhood and with such close proximity to stunning Tunnels Beach. The manager was very responsive and helpful. We are already planning our return.

We enjoyed both going out to dinner in Hanalei, but ended up cooking and eating at "home" more than we have ever done on vacation, because it was so much fun to hang out at the house. While we were visiting the weather was perfect, but the ocean was rough (all over the North Shore), so we ended up exploring and swimming at safer spots. We plan to come back in spring or summer so that we can swim right outside the house.

We loved staying at this spot, we always stay in Haena and this has been one of my top houses. The view is spectacular, we were so close to tunnels we could walk over if there wasn't any parking. Clean house and responsive crew.

Our family of four (two kids ages 9 and 6) had an incredible stay! Location could not be better - beachfront with your own private trail steps to the sand and a nearly private beach. We especially loved the gorgeous lanai, large grassy backyard, and ocean views from nearly every room. The house was spacious, with an open floorplan and lovely vaulted ceilings. We definitely plan to be back!
