We’ve stayed at The Whaler many times and absolutely love the property, but unfortunately, this unit was a huge disappointment. We felt misled and ignored throughout our stay.

First and foremost, we were not informed of the massive construction project directly in front of the unit that obstructed the ocean view we were promised. This wasn’t a minor oversight—the construction was significant enough to have been covered in national news, yet the owners claimed they were unaware. It felt dishonest, especially given the scale and publicity of the work.

Adding to the disruption, there was constant loud construction noise from the unit directly above us. It made it nearly impossible for our toddler to nap and was incredibly frustrating to deal with throughout the day.

We reached out to the owners multiple times with our concerns, hoping for understanding or some form of compensation. Instead, we were met with dismissive responses and told there was “nothing they could do.” At no point did they offer any kind of solution or accountability.

To make matters worse, we paid for a midweek cleaning that we were told would be a complete clean to find that only the towels were changed and the beds were made—no cleaning was done on the floors or countertops, which is unacceptable at this price point.

This experience was incredibly disappointing. While we will definitely return to The Whaler, we strongly advise staying in a different unit—preferably one managed by owners who are honest, communicative, and committed to guest satisfaction.

Our vacation rental was all we had hoped it would it be. Our condo was spacious and well appointed. Our location was optimum. The ground level unit ocean front was just what we wanted.
We stayed here 7 years ago and we were anxious to return. The only negative for us was the condition of the big sofa in the living room. It has become very dirty and has an old "sofa on the ocean" smell. We covered it with clean beach towels to mask the smell. I own rental property myself and I am sure the owners would appreciate this comment.

Being on ground level with access to beach front and pool was very convenient the family was able to spend so much more time enjoying the beach with out having to make numerous trips lugging stuff around. We would usually rent these items form the Snorkel Store for the week. the best thing we enjoyed was being able to sit on the patio looking right out at the ocean. The inside of the unit was great as it was clean and very accommodating for a family of 4. Had no issues with anything during our stay and the rental team did a great job of staying in contact about necessary information and checking to see if everything was good.

I can't imagine a better suited unit for the best experience in West Maui than Whaler 102. Ground floor, west end of Tower 1, we saw whales everyday from our lanai. Walking distance to world class restaurants, snorkel trip pick up at the beach in front of the Whaler. Golf 4 minutes away. Love to come back and stay in 102!

Our family have been vacationing at the Whaler the last 5 years and we have stayed in different units every time and this unit is by far the nicest, most well equipped and being on the ground floor was an absolute treat. The ease of using the barbecues for lunch and dinners, accessing the beach with gear and not having to use the elevators is a luxury in itself. I would recommend this unit to anyone that needs to sleep 6 very comfortably and easily 8 with the pull out queen couch. Views from this unit are amazing even with it being in the ground floor.
We will hopefully get the opportunity to rent this unit again.

Kitchen was stocked with essential cooking and kitchen supplies. The beds were extremely comfortable. Laundry in unit. We had morning coffee while watching the beautiful backdrop of the ocean. This is our third stay in this condo and we absolutely love it. The location could not be more perfect and the condo staff are all super kind and friendly. Being on the ground floor makes it very easy to go in and out with little kids.

We loved staying at this property! It was so close to the beach. We were able to go right out to the BBQs, pool and the beach. It was very convenient for our family. We have 3 kids so it made it so fun to have them run out and play whenvert they wanted.

We had an amazing time at the Whaler 102. Everything is so close and convenient! Beautiful and roomy condo was perfect for our family of 4 - my husband, myself, and our two daughters, ages 17 and 19. It had tons of room, a great kitchen for us to cook together in, and so many options for us to eat together - both inside and outside while listening to the waves!

We all had the most amazing time, and the property was just as described. The location was perfect and the condo itself was very spacious, clean and had everything a person needed. I would never stay at this condo again. It’s old and aged. There’s no ceiling fans which makes it moist and humid. The furniture is falling apart. There’s rust in the bathrooms. There’s no plastic cups for outside. We love Whalers but this condo is not up to par.

The condo could use a little updating as it felt dated to me, but the views and location more than made up for it. I texted the property manager when we arrived and when we left, but I never heard from them while I was there. The check in process was very easy at the Whaler front desk.

The Whaler property itself is nice and seems well maintained. Lots of great staff as well. Pool area isn't great but works for sun bathing and cooling off. Parking situation is decent, usually couldn't find a spot in the garage and had to park in the furthest lot.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and the location but would probably look elsewhere for our next visit.

Perfect unit for large groups with small children. This is the second time we have stayed in this unit with our children and grandchildren. The unit is big enough for everyone, it is ground level with multiple sliding glass doors so the children can walk straight out to the beach and it’s located directly next to the BBQ area, which we used every night.

We were in position "A". We were able to sit on our patio and take in all of the sights. located, overlooking the outdoor grilling and dining area, was perfect. Easy access for our use, and able to have our own space, as we watching others enjoying the accommodations. The most convenient access to the beach, through any of our 4 glass sliding doors. Everything was perfect! We had a couple very small issues, initially. The coffee pot was not matched with the coffee Carafe, so unable to use it. Unable to get the water from the refrigerator door to work. Reached out to management, and within hours they provided a brand new coffee pot, and a Britta pitcher for filtering out water. I can't say enough good things about this condo. It was well stocked with beach chairs, towels, toys, etc. Thy layout and view was beyond spectacular, would highly recommend to anyone.

Excellent unit if you have small kids. We had our 5 year old and 3 year old grandchildren with us and this location was perfect. You can open the sliding doors out to the lawn area and the kids can play outside and still be in your view. The unit itself needs some simple “handyman fixes”.. While we were there we had to have the maintenance crew come in and remove large globs of hair from the bathtub drain and hallway sink drain. I alerted the property managers and these two problems were addressed immediately. The unit just needs to have a handyman go through checking for small things such as drains draining properly, all lightbulbs working, towel racks secured properly, TP holders secured properly, dryer lint screens cleaned properly, etc. We did find an I-Pad there that was not ours. I notified the property manager twice but she never responded to my texts. I finally dropped it of at the front lobby counter (I’m assuming that owner would like to have their I-Pad returned). Midway through our two week stay we paid $200 to have a cleaning crew come in for a housecleaning only to discover that they didn’t bother to move couches or chairs to sweep up sand that inevitably accumulates under such places. �� The unit just needs a little “attention to detail” applied to it. Overall, it’s a beautiful unit and we will definitely stay there again. The owners did provide amenities such as beach chairs, beach umbrellas, beach towels, and lots of kids beach toys.

Beautiful ground floor with spacious living room and bedrooms! We had brand new shower curtains and clean soft sheets which were great! Another plus was the 3 tommy bahama beach umbrellas and 4 new tommy bahama chairs!!! Tons of beach toys for kids as well as a high chair and pack n play! This condo did have it all! January was the best time as the nights were the cheapest! The wifi wasn't the strongest especially in the master bedroom! Would love to stay during summer but it doubles!! The property is as close to the water as you can get and is also walking distance to many restaurants and shops in the area. The property does need some minor repairs but the location cannot be beat.

Ocean front first floor is our favorite location. No waiting for the elevator. The wrap around lanai adds extra outdoor living space.This unit is tastefully decorated and fully stocked with everything you need. We will definitely be staying at Whaler 102 again!

Our accommodations were updated, very clean, very comfortable. All the convienience's of home, really. The sliding doors were so nice to have. We each had our own private entrances if we wished. The long lanai on the side of the condo was fabulous. We had a small child with us and the grass area next to our condo was perfect for him to play ball and run around. The view was spectacular.

The property was clean when we arrived and had everything we needed. It has beautiful furnishings and you can tell this place is kept up. The property management company is very professional. I had to contact them while I was there because I found a damaged closet door in the guest room. They were pleasant to deal with and instructed me how to report my finding. We also enjoyed how they really have there stuff together. When you rent their condo, they give you a link that has tons of information about the check in/out process, wifi, etc. For them to provide us with all this information just made everything easy. We loved the closet that offered beach necessities like beach chairs, sand toys, and beach cooler bag. The location of the property was awesome! We loved our oceanfront view! Having coffee out on the lanai was the best!! We could head out to the beautiful beach as it was probably about 80-90 feet from the condo, which made it easy when we needed to take a break from the sun and get lunch. This condo is also just steps away from the BBQ area if you feel like grilling up your own dinner and about a 5 minute walk to restaurants at the Whaler's Village. The pool area is about a 30 second walk. The grass area off the side of the condo was a bonus for the kids as they could have somewhere to play. We were very impressed with the upkeep at The Whaler. Every single day that we were there we could see staff on top of just keeping up the premises. They were all very nice and helpful. We really had a fabulous time and can't wait to visit again!! We cooked several meals there and it was a pleasure to find good quality cooking equipment, all kind of spices and just about every utensil I would find in my own kitchen. Also supplied us with Beach towels, chairs, beach cooler bag and so many things that usually I end up buying my past trips to Maui. Absolutely loved this place and hope to stay there again.

We cooked several meals there and it was a pleasure to find good quality cooking equipment, all kind of spices and just about every utensil I would find in my own kitchen. Also supplied us with Beach towels, chairs, beach cooler bag and so many things that usually I end up buying my past trips to Maui. Absolutely loved this place and hope to stay there again.

Loved that this is a 1st floor sits high enough for great ocean and sunset views and able your able to walk out of the patio and down to the Pool, BBQ or beach. Awesome location, on the boardwalk by the pool, all amenities, couldnt have been better. Beautiful lawn for kids to play, washer dryer in unit. Perfect views. The Whaler is a wonderful place to stay and we splurged for this unit.

This unit was perfect for my family of 5. Location is close to Black Rock as well as shopping at the Whaler mall.
Being on the 1st floor was so convenient for daytime activities as well as cooking on the grills at night. The unit had everything we needed from a fully stocked kitchen to pool noodles / chairs / towels. Will definitely try to book this again if we ever make it back to Maui.

Absolutely loved this condo and the location! Oceanfront and being on the 1st floor with easy access to beach, pool, walkway and shopping was very convenient! The condo was very clean with comfortable beds and everything we needed from beach chairs to boogie boards was included. Enjoyed the grills right outside our patio door and the fire pit at night. I would definitely stay at this condo again on my next trip to Maui!

We had a great experience at the Whaler. The location is wonderful- easy access to both the ocean and the pool. Also very close to Whaler's Village which has great restaurants and shopping.

Our 10 month old son was with us and this unit is fully equipped for children- the pack-n-play was set up upon our arrival and the high chair was also set out at the dining room table. Everything is in perfect condition! There are also sand toys, beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards to use so you won't need to rent anything to enjoy the beach!

The unit is so nice we actually spent a lot of time sitting on the patio (which overlooks the ocean) to escape the sun and just enjoy the beautiful views! Even though it is on the ground floor, we never heard any noise from neighboring units. The kitchen is fully equipped- even has plates/bowls for kids. The beds are wonderful. I really can't say enough positive things about this unit. You definitely won't be disappointed if you stay at the Whaler 102!
