Welcome to The Coqui Shack! This beautifully decorated 2-bedroom, 2-bath home is the perfect locale for sightseeing the east side of The Big Island!

The Coqui Shack is centrally located in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision between the villages of Kea’au and Pahoa. The home is located only 20-30 minutes SE of Hilo, where you’ll find swimming and snorkeling at many beach parks in Hilo. Volcanoes National Park is only 45 minutes away.

The Coqui Shack, named after the chorus of frogs that will sing you to sleep at night, sits perfectly on its own private, landscaped acre. The huge grassy yard is perfect for those outdoor BBQs and provides lots of room for the kids to play. The Coqui Shack sleeps 4 comfortably with a queen-size bed in the master, and in the guest bedroom, and a full-size air mattress for extra guests. The master bedroom has its own private ensuite bath. There is a guest bathroom as well.

The hale includes all of the modern amenities that you would want in a vacation rental home, including cable TV & internet, washer/dryer.

The Coqui Shack was fantastic. It was close to the places we wanted to see while on the windward side. The home was clean and we loved the idea of being away from the touristy areas since we had just spent a week in Kona. It is located in the neighborhood called Hawaiian Paradise park, which is very large. Expect it to take a few minutes extra to get to the home once you get into the neighborhood. The sounds of the coqui's are not that bad since we left the fans on at night. It was nice to have the extra space that the home provides as well as a full kitchen. The public shoreline access is a few minutes away by car as well as Maku'u Point to watch and hear the crashing waves. The property manager and/or assistant were always available and responsive.

Clean, comfortable stay for our week on the island. Enjoyed the nightly frog serenade from the lovely porch, as well as birds, giant snails, and geckos during the day. Close to Hilo and other east side attractions, and not too bad a drive to Volcanoes National Park, Kona, etc. Locally, we recommend brunch at Countryside Cafe (Kea’au), sunsets/sunrises at Maku’u Point, and making the somewhat treacherous hike to Ha’ena/Shipman Beach for swimming and sea turtles.

A beautiful accommodation in the middle of a beautiful green environment. There was everything we needed for our stay, well equipped kitchen, towels, everything there. Communication with the rental agency was easy and uncomplicated.

Cute little house, hidden away in a lush tropical setting. Totally secluded & quiet. Only noise is from the frogs & birds. Indoor & outdoor sitting space. Good internet, big TV. Two separate bedrooms & baths. All the simple amenities you could ask for: plenty of kitchen implements, cooking spices, cooler, beach umbrella & chairs, W/D, books, games, bbq grill. Close enough to a little town for groceries & a restaurant or too. Close to spend a day at the Volcano NP. Easy drive to Hilo, Akaka Falls & Black sand beaches.

A beautiful place in a nice location. House is well appointed with all the needed amnesties. House can get hot since there is no AC. There are fans but they help only so much.
There are no shopping or restaurants close by. But you can get to them in about 15 minutes drive.
House is clean and has good wifi.
