This beautiful, ground-floor honeymoon condo is just a stone’s throw away from the crystal blue waters of Ma’alaea Bay. Watch the sunrise over Haleakala from your private lanai as whales play in the bay and turtles glide in and out of the gently lapping waves along the white sandy beach affronting the condo. Island Sands is in a wonderful location to explore all that Maui has to offer. Just five miles to Kihei and fifteen miles to Lahaina, you’ll love the ease of access this condo provides.

This well-maintained, air-conditioned (in living room only), one-bedroom unit has everything you need to make your stay on Maui feel like “home away from home.” The kitchen has full-sized appliances, a breakfast bar, big ocean views, and all the necessities for meal prep. The kitchen flows into the living area which has been tastefully decorated with traditional rattan furniture, vintage Hawaiian surf art, and features a 42” smart-TV with cable, DVD player, and small collection of movies. There is also a wonderful selection of books to browse while staying in this unit. The outdoor lanai has a lovely dining table and is perfect for enjoying dinner or drinks while taking in the incredible panoramic views.

The garden bedroom has a king-sized bed with plush linens and another 39” flat-screen TV with cable. There is a full bathroom with a tub and shower and all the linens for your stay are provided. This unit also features a brand new sofa sleeper with memory foam in living room. There is also a full-sized washer and dryer in the unit as well as beach chairs, a beach umbrella, cooler, pool toys, and beach towels. Guests of Island Sands also have full access to the pool and BBQ area.

Island Sands is within walking distance to Maui Ocean Center Aquarium (rated one of Maui’s top attractions!), five-mile long Sugar Beach, Ma’alaea Harbor, Beach Bum Bar and Grill, and a number of other shops and restaurants. Island Sands also enjoys a smaller number of units making this spot quieter and more private than a lot of the other resort communities in Maui. I loved being on the first floor and that they included a patio door lock which made it easy to head out to the pool. I setup my work office on the lanai and I loved being able to watch the sunrise every morning. I also enjoyed the central location so it wasn't a long drive to the west or south.

The condo itself was wonderful, the grounds, the pool were very well kept and what an ideal location for whale watching. We ate every meal on our lanai, passing our binoculars back and forth as activity was spotted. The condo is very well maintained and clean upon arrival and we left it the same. The supply of paper products, toiletries, and some First Aid items were appreciated. We re-outfitted the kit with some upgrades. Small problems/annoyances: there was no DVD player, which also made the living room TV instructions inaccurate. The bathroom exhaust fan probably disturbed the neighbors since it's very loud. While the beach accessories were appreciated, the 2 larger beach chairs were corroded/broken and are sharp-edge hazards. The 2 small beach chairs are nearly as bad. The beach umbrella had 3 broken/detached struts. For some reason, many of the outlet covers were loose ... ? Thought about fixing, but not my property. Never did sort out what the bedroom light switch powered ... no lights, for sure. Made do with the fan switch. The office staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend the property and revisit ourselves.

The rental was a good home away from home for a few days. Perfect for both my husband and I. The property itself was beautiful with a great view. They could definitely replace the comforter on the bed as it had a lot of stains and discoloration. There are a few people that live there that don’t allow you to have much fun. Kids were being yelled at down at the pool all day for just being kids. They weren’t too loud or crazy but complaints came everyday!! So If you are a quiet person who wants to read at the pool silently this place is for you! But probably wouldn’t recommend bringing kids or wanting to party.

Pros: great location and view, quiet, condo was equipped with a variety of useful things (i.e.beach towels, iron, vacuum, coffee maker, cooler, clean), clean towels, set of clean sheets, rooms had working fans, one air conditioning in living room, place appeared somewhat clean ( bathroom was clean, kitchen clean, bed was made and things were in order, refrigerator and microwave were clean and working), pool area was clean, reserved car space for rental, gas/convenience store, restaurant and gift shopped close by, Maui aquarium in walking distance. Other guests were nice and respectful. Outside area (trash, fish pond, lawn maintenance was well kept.
Cons: lock on door was very difficult to open despite have correct lock code, most of the time I entered the apartment from back porch sliding door, found dead and living bugs inside and outside of the apt (big cockroaches and small ants) air conditioning was very noisy which was
annoying at night, never met the apt manager due to limited office hours (office hours were 9:00am-1:00pm). Unable to access WiFI and Cable TV.

Quiet, first floor access to lawn and beach where green turtles rested nightly. The view from our lanai offered hours of whale watching.
The only negative: Although the property offered beach equipment, the beach chairs were unusable (rusted though , torn and broken). Otherwise, the property was great.

The condo was great! It was clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed opening up the patio door and enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean. Great central location for all we wanted to do on Maui. We had a small, not urgent, mechanical issue come up during our stay and it was fully resolved by the professional staff in less than 2 hours.

The best part of this rental is the lanai & the view from there! The rest of the rental is very standard & mostly as expected. The biggest drawback was how hot the bedroom was. The AC was in the living room & even with a fan put in the hallway, the cooler air never reached the bedroom. Had to turn off AC every time you left & it just never made the bedroom comfortable.

Island Sands has a great location no matter where you are exploring on the island. Unit 110 has a spectacular view of the ocean. If you go during whale watching you can see plenty of action right from your patio. The unit had everything we needed while not being overdone. It is a great size for a couple. Management staff (Chelsea) was very responsive to any questions or issues. Would like to see the unit updated some to be a perfect place all around.

We had a great time during our vacation!! The property was in pretty good shape, very clean, and our rental manager, Chelsea, was so sweet, patient, and quick to respond to any and all of our questions.
My husband and I also appreciated the beach gear - it certainly made the trip better! We couldn’t get enough of those views from the porch either...absolutely stunning!!

We were very pleased with the the condo overall. It fit our needs exactly as a family of three that includes a very active 15 month-old. The sitting area and lanai have a gorgeous ocean view, especially for sunrise, and it walks right out to a grassy area that is perfect for running around in. There was a small beach down some steps no more than 50 feet off the porch. We even saw some sea turtles on the beach just after sunset one day. We would absolutely come back. The location is great as well--nice to be 15 minutes from the center of both Kihei and Kahului so we had many options to eat within an easy drive.
