This charming 3 Bedroom 2 Bath home is only a few blocks from the ocean in Hawaiian Shores just outside of Pahoa, HI, Papai Lanai is the perfect locale for sightseeing the east side of The Big Island. Only about 45 minutes SW of Hilo, you are convenient to all of the sights and sounds that the east side of the Big Island has to offer. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is only an hour away!

Papai Lanai sleeps 6 or 7 comfortably with a queen bed in the master suite upstairs, a queen and full beds in the 2nd bedroom (downstairs) and a twin Murphy bed in the 3rd bedroom (also downstairs). Every room in this house has AIR CONDITIONING, which is relatively unheard of here on the Big Island. The master bedroom has its own large private bath and French doors that let you step out onto the small, private lanai. The kitchen is well-equipped to cook all your favorite meal, including a gas grill just out the back door. You can dine inside the dining room, or enjoy your meals in the screened in lanai just off the kitchen. The hale also has all of the modern amenities that you would want in a vacation rental home including Cable TV, High Speed Internet, Washer/Dryer and more!

Very comfortable and clean. Loved the front porch and private yard. Kitchen countertop was funky, painted and pealing on some spots. Given wrong key code but Jolanta was available by phone at 8pm and was very helpful with getting the TV working

My sister and I rented this house for a quick trip to see our ill father on the big island. Perfect location, 10 blocks from dad and 2 blocks from the water.
Could hear the waves hitting the rocks from morning till night. House is cute! Great layout for small family/group. Nicely equipped kitchen, awesome screened porch with gas grill! Washer and dryer in the garage. Window A/C units in living room, kitchen, downstairs double bedroom and upstairs sitting room off the master (couldn't get the upstairs cool until the sun went down!). None of the doors have seals on them, so be prepared for bugs and geckos! I'm very particular with cleanliness...very basic cleaning was done. If you feel you're not happy with it, tell your rental agent! Ours was wonderful and responded quickly! Gecko droppings in the windows are gross but common...get the doors and windows sealed and it would be a tremendous help. Curtains in the bedrooms would be nice also...both for privacy and for blocking some of the daytime heat. If the mattresses could be flipped it may help the comfort on the beds. Esp the downstairs doubles...they have "wells" in the mattress where prior bodies have slept. We also met some neighbors, who were very nice and gracious...they gave us lots of information on what to see and where to shop. Definitely visit the tide pools and explore! The big island is an absolutely beautiful and wondrous place! Aloha and Mahalo!

This property was in an awesome location for our needs, but it lacked in some items that would be helpful or a nice added touch upon arrival.
I've rented from AirBnB and VRBO many many times (as well as a Host myself)and this was the only property managed vs rented by an owner and there was definitely the lack of feeling invited in. I stayed at a different place the week prior and was met with local flowers, a bottle of wine and a beautiful large wooded bowl of native fruits.
Not the end of the world but its a nice touch and why I don't use hotels much anymore.

It would also be helpful to have a few more essential starter items in the kitchen, even some cloth grocery bags help.

Overall we had a great time, my friend and I had alot of space and this place met our needs overall. I/we would definitely stay here again. Just offering some suggestions.
