Kahaluu is a mostly rural, residential community in the Koolaupoko district on the eastern (windward) side of Oahu along Kaneohe Bay. Kahaluu town is home to about 3,000 people.
The town of Kahaluu hugs the coastline from Kahaluu Bay past the small cove of Heeia Bay to Keahou Bay. Kahaluu Bay is somewhat protected by an ancient breakwater built on the reef providing a good snorkeling location when the surf is not too high.
Just north of Kahaluu are Waikane and Waiahole, while just to the south is Ahuimanu. Kahaluu means “diving place.”
