Located on the Big Island’s northeast shore along the scenic Hamakua Coast, Ninole sits at about 260 feet above sea level providing great ocean views. The town is home to about 200 people.
Though Ninole is an unincorporated town it does have its own post office. Waikaumalo Park in Ninole is located in a quiet area away from the coast with an enjoyable hiking trail. At the beautiful Nanue Falls, and the Umauma Falls you can enjoy a great view of Mauna Kea volcano.
Located just north of Hakalau and south of Papaaloa between the towns of Weloka and Honohina, Ninole is one of the many charming, small towns along the scenic Hamakua Heritage Corridor Drive from Hilo to Waipio Valley. Ninole means “Bending.”
