Visit lush and tropical Hilo town with its many shops, art galleries and restaurants, as well as nearby thundering Rainbow Falls. Take a drive along the scenic Hamakua Coast to see Akaka Falls plunging 422 feet and the steep-walled Waipio Valley that was home to royalty in ancient times. The Big Island includes many different landscapes from the white sand beaches of Kua Bay and Hapuna to the snow-capped peak of Mauna Kea - a world renown astronomical observatory site at nearly 14,000 feet above sea level.
