Located near the Kona Airport, Wawaloli Beach is an uncrowded family-friendly beach; a great place to go if you need to kill some time before your flight. Not the greatest beach for swimming, it does have some unique qualities that make it worth a visit.
Lava rock and reefy ocean floor attract a variety of tropical fish, anemones, and scuttling crabs to this spot. If you have young children with you, or simply want to explore the great outdoors, this a great beach to visit for a hands-on science lesson, family bbq, or just some plain old fun.
Black lava rock, intriguing tidepools, and plenty of shade trees invite you to spend the afternoon wading through the crystal clear shallows, discovering the flourishing wildlife, and taking in the mesmerizing island views.
