Located between the resort areas of Kapalua and Kaanapali, Napili is a nice Maui beach town with a variety of ideally located condominiums and hotels. Crescent-shaped Napili Bay is a popular visitor destination with great snorkeling and swimming as well as parasailing. Sailing and motorboats are prohibited within the bay.
The wide and sandy Napili Beach slopes rather quickly into the ocean creating a shorebreak that is popular among bodyboarders during the winter months. The region’s clear blue waters and coral reefs are home to many colorful tropical fish along with Hawaiian green sea turtles. However there is no lifeguard so use extreme care around the ocean and do not go in the water during times of high surf and strong currents.
Napili is located north of Lahaina on Maui’s scenic western coastline with views of the islands of Lanai and Molokai in the distance. Napili is also a great place to spot humpback whales offshore during the winter months.
Around the point to the left of Napili Bay is Honokeana Bay which is also a great location for swimming and snorkeling, with tidepools that provide fun areas for exploring. Just south of Napili Bay is the picturesque beachfront community of Kahana.
The Napili-Honokowai region is home to about 7,000 people in an area of about 7 square miles. If you are looking for more excitement than the quite and pleasant neighborhoods and beaches of Napili then visit Kaanapali and Kapalua resorts for fine dining and shopping as well as more great beaches.
