Description

Hale Maluhia is a one-of-a-kind beachfront home on Hanalei Bay and is perfect for honeymooners or a small party looking for a luxurious getaway. This is a fabulous home is located on Hanalei Bay and is privately gated. The Saturday morning farmers and fresh produce market is just a few blocks away.The house is fully equipped with upscale furnishings and amenities. Master bedroom with king bed has garden views, flat screen TV with cable and stereo. The master bath has shower/jacuzzi tub. The living area offers a queen punee bed for additional sleeping arrangements or lounging area. Off of the living area is a very small bedroom with twin size bed and half bath. The manicured gardens is very private. Gas lined tiki torches and garden gazebo encourage outdoor entertaining and dining.

This home is located on the end of the bay near the surf spot Pinetrees. Hanalei town is just a short five to ten minute walk. The Saturday morning farmers and fresh produce market is just a few blocks away.

We loved this house. It's one of the few beachfront rentals in Hanalei that works best for a couple or small group. The back yard is lovely and peaceful. The gazebo is the perfect perch for hanging out in the rain or sun. The one ding to this place is the lack of privacy with the neighboring house to the right. The two yards are completely open. Continuing the landscaping that starts at the outdoor shower onward towards the beach would create a more private feel for both houses. Hawaii Life was easy and professional to work with. We will be back.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hale Maluhia Hanalei. The house was perfect for the two of us. The location was an excellent spot from which to launch our Kauai adventures. We loved the open main room and the doors that open to the outside. The beach was fantastic.
That being said, two adjustments must be made to the property. 1) the water pressure in the indoor shower is awful. 2) the outdoor shower should have a door or half door or otherwise be constructed in a more private manner.
Despite those small complaints, I highly recommend this home for a small family or couple.

We loved our stay in this beautiful and unique house. It was very homie with plenty of space.
The views of the mountains behind the house were spectacular. you can walk right out the back gate onto the beach. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking. The outdoor shower was wonderfull, we will be back.

This place is truly amazing. Perfect for a family of four with two young kids. The most magical beach front location, Dining on the outdoor gazebo every night. Very well stocked with everything we need. Worth the cost since you will spend a lot of time at the property.

Hale Maluhia is a great house in a wonderful location. It is very 'zen' with clean and well appointed furnishings that make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The backyard that faces the ocean is a dream...several seating areas with varying views of the beach, a roofed gazebo with a table that seats 8 for dining. There is an outside shower that is really amazing and just a few steps from the master bedroom. It's a 1 minute walk to the ocean which was perfect for my husband and I who like to start the day with a swim in the warm water of Hanalei Bay. The kitchen has modern appliances and the indoor dining area was well furnished and offered ocean views as well. It's a small house but perfect for a couple with two children.

Firstly, the service was great. We were able to get a crib, two bikes, sand toys, etc. all waiting for us when we arrived. The place is just the right size, beautifully put together and the location is amazing, on the beach and a short bike ride to Hanalei village. Can't wait to stay there again.

Hale Maluhia is everything that it is described to be. Its close to town, right on the beach, and private even though your next to the parking lot for public beach access, and houses on either side. The back yard is well kept and has a secluded feel, and the house is clean and has everything you need. We barbequed and lit the tiki torches and kicked back. The neighbor called the manager to report that they thought the torches had been lit and we had left, which was not the case. So you are being watched, but you really don't feel like it. Over all I give it a thumbs up. The managers at Hawaii Life are at your service, and respond quickly if you have any issues.

Perfect home at Pine Trees surf break--we ate our meals in the lovely pavilion by the light of the tiki torches while watching the waves! The home is clean, comfortable and has a well-stocked kitchen. It is a short walk to Hanalei town which is convenient. The yard is beautiful and lush and peaceful for yoga and reading.
Patches, the cat kept us company too!

My wife, 2 year old son, and I had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The property feels very private even though it is right next to the parking lot at one of Hanalei Bay's most popular surf breaks. The convenience to the beach and to surfing is amazing which we enjoyed thoroughly.

Hawaii Life was great and promptly replied to questions and the concierge service is excellent! We had them drop some cruiser bikes for us as well as a SUP board. Super great service and we appreciated that being complimentary.

The new bedroom AC unit just being installed will be a great asset. It can be really hot in the house as there is no AC. Having just a unit in the bedroom for those hot humid nights will make sleeping that much better.

Also, just know there is a resident cat that sticks around the property and house quite a bit. It wasn't a problem for us as we don't mind cats and are son loved to feed her and see her every day. But if you have cat allergies or are not wanting an outside cat around, then this might not be your place.

Overall, a great place for us and we'd love to come back again!

We so enjoyed our time in this beautiful cottage on the beach! The house was so inviting and relaxing and the grounds were spectacular. Everything you could need for your stay was available - from beach chairs, to board games, to spices and condiments in the kitchen, to toiletries in the bathroom. The linens were wonderful and the beds were so comfortable. We even became very fond of the property's outdoor cat and roosters. We hope to come back sometime soon!

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Hale Maluhia. We loved the location right on Hanalei Bay, and this house is particularly well situated in Pine Trees near the quieter western end of Weke Road, away from the pier and crowded east end of the beach. Privacy can be an issue at beach houses, but because an expansive lawn and beautifully landscaped garden separates the house from the beach, we never felt on view. We could see the water through the ironwood trees growing in the sand, but beach-goers could not see in the house. Another advantage to the location of the house is that you can’t see the big, ugly St. Regis resort in Princeville, which looms over the eastern end of the lovely bay. There is a parking area just to the west of the house, but we never heard a sound. The house is also close to the road, but once the gate closes behind you, there is a sense of quiet, seclusion, safety, and privacy.

The house was very comfortable for the two of us, though it had room for more. The compact space has been very intelligently and stylishly designed with a sort of Zen Asian feel. Both indoor and outdoor dining (in an elevated gazebo) areas are great. The kitchen was well outfitted, though we mostly preferred to try the local restaurants. The bath is handsomely and efficiently designed (a bit dark, but we found everything dark in Hawaii due to the high cost of electricity). Kauai is the land of wild chickens, and there are always roosters crowing. We slept with earplugs: problem solved. There is a cute neighborhood cat named Patches, and from reading the guest book we learned that many renters adopted her. We enjoyed her very much, but if you are not a cat lover, she could be ignored. Our first night we had some trouble getting the outside floodlights to stop flashing, but Krisha, the manager, came over right away. She was lovely and very helpful, and Kristine at Hawaii Life was patient with questions. A great experience from beginning to end!

We have stayed in many houses on or near the beach in Hanalei. Hale Maluhia is our favorite. The location is perfect - in the Pine Trees area at the quiet west end of Weke road, behind the volleyball courts and near the parking lot, but situated in a way that there was no noise whatsoever and complete privacy. The house sits back away from the beach with a long private enclosed grassy area perfect for sitting on comfortable chaise lounges. The waves can clearly be heard from the house. Being able to walk directly onto the beach from the house fits our definition of paradise.

As you can see in the pictures, the house has an odd exterior on the front, slightly ramshackle. But the interior is charming - thoroughly stocked, well chosen furniture, and completely relaxing. There's air conditioning in the bedroom which I can imagine would be quite helpful in the summer, and is hard to find in the Hanalei houses.

We got lucky and no roosters crowed while we were in the house - a frequent problem for people trying to sleep in the morning in Hanalei. The cat is friendly and cat food is provided. We didn't let her in the house and she didn't seem to mind - but she took care of the morning wakeup duties days by crying for food early. Not a big problem. We were all friends.

Although the shower outside is quite nice, our favorite touch was the frog that can wash your feet. Trust me. You'll like the frog.

A wonderful property, expensive but worth it.

A dream come true! We have been coming to Kauai for 26 years. Our dream was to actually stay on the bay!! We finally made it! Hale Maluhia was perfect! The house was immaculate and decorated supremely! A very cozy place that was perfect for us! The grounds were impeccable with lots of Aloha!! We ate dinner in the gazebo by the light of torches throughout the grounds! And of course outside the gate is beautiful Hanalei Bay! We took home our memories and cannot wait to come back!!

What an amazing place to stay. Beautiful location with just the right island vibe. A complete little cozy "cabin" on the beach. With so many monstrous houses lining the beach, it was such a pleasure to have a little hideaway right along side. Very grateful to stay and can't wait to come back.

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon, and we were so pleased! The house is gorgeous, the yard amazing, and the accessibility to the North Shore was perfect. We swam every day, grilled every night, ate in the gazebo or under the stars while torches

What a beautiful setting for a vacation! Hale Maluhia was a lovely, comfortable home to use as a starting and ending point each day.

Our trip had been planned for nearly two years and Hawaii Life was gracious about returning my emails anytime I had questions about the property or location. They sent tips about things to do and places to visit while on the island - all very helpful for planning purposes.

The expansive back yard was beautifully landscaped and we were greeting each morning by a symphony of birds...even got used to the crazy hours the roosters seem to keep from 2:00 AM on!

Hawaii Life personnel were very responsive to our questions about some features at the house, even when the answers to our queries were quite obvious once they were explained.

Best of all, we weren't required to do any chores before we left. Unlike many rentals, we were able to leave the house and not worry about removing bedding or doing laundry or vacuuming. Just a bit of trash removal and loading the dishwasher. May not seem like much to many, but we enjoyed not having to clean house on our last day on the island!

We would recommend this home and location to anyone visiting the north shore who would like a beach front experience.

The hubby and I had a wonderful time in Hanalei - very relaxing!! The place we stayed was very quaint and felt like home. Beach was steps away and town was within 10 minutes walking distance. Farmer's markets were fun to visit as well as the local shops. Great time - no regrets!

The decor was quite ecletic, to say the least!
We were surprised that the livingroom "sofa" was upholstered in white! Also, the white eider down quilt (in Kauai?) encourages the use of the overhead fan in the bedroom. I would think that it would be more economical to have lighter, easier to clean bedding. We certainly enjoyed the water pressure in the shower! Can't believe a low flow head hasn't been installed. Loved the outdoor shower! The stern agreement about damage to items makes one not want to reveal problems for fear they will be "charged" for them. Defeats the purpose of managements need to maintain it's property. We left a note about the broken hair dryer, but I forgot to mention that the BBQ drip pan was full and leaking onto the floor of the unit. It was so full I was afraid to try and drain it myself.
Overall, we enjoyed Hale Maluhia and would recommend it. In fact several people asked about the property while we were staying there wo we hope you get them to rent.

Maluhia means serenity, peace, and the home ambience provides this via the Japanese stone lantern meditated upon from the jacuzzi, a huge, comfy sea facing sofa, as well as a punee (large mattress-like and super comfy sofa). The artwork literally holds positive and loving messages, the shoji screens silently close off private areas in the most aesthetic way. Beautiful Hanaeli Bay is seen from large, sliding glass walls in every room, yet this house is the best protected from the daily beach traffic by its undulating garden plantings, in which is bedded the gazebo, several sitting areas with sculpture, as well as the mysterious, bamboo surrounded outdoor shower!

This is our second stay at Hale Maluhia and love it more and more each time. This time our stay was with two kids, and the home is a perfect set up for that. The linens are always fresh, the kitchen is well stocked with any tools a gourmet would need. My only suggestion would be a bit more foliage around the outside shower. It's not quite as "private" as it could be.

There is always a tinge of anxiety when renting a house for the first time...will the house be clean, will the house be next to a construction sight, will the dishwasher and washing machine and dryer, etc all work properly...well i'm happy to report my anxiety was for naught because everything was perfect at Hale Maluhia...we sooooo loved our stay. Krisha and Sandra both were so lovely and both take such good care of the property...and i'm really particular! The location was perfect...we rented bikes and pedaled 5 mins into town daily. Both farmers markets were close by and they had such amazing produce. we rented surf boards and paddle boards and used both in front of the couldn't have been easier. We are trying to figure out dates for a return trip...a big thank you to Kahea and everyone at Hawaii Life for making everything so easy. Mahalo! Eric & Nathan
